For many of our treasured writers, things do not get easier as they grow older. Since its inception over thirty years ago the Writers Benevolent Fund has helped writers in financial trouble - assisting with pressing debts, illness expenses, back rents, supplements to pensions, nursing home expenses, wheelchair costs, and funeral expenses.

Many writers give generously each year, but wider support is needed if the Writers Benevolent Fund is to grow in step with needs of ill or ageing writers. We welcome contributions from book clubs, individuals and corporations. All donations are receipted and tax deductible over $2.
Whether large or small, your donation can make a difference.

Leave a bequest

A gift in your Will, no matter what size, will make a difference to the assistance that the Writers Benevolent Fund can give writers in need. We use bequests to support established writers who find themselves in temporary financial difficulties and hardship. All bequests are welcome and are added to our Trust funds to support the continuation of our work.

Your bequest can take a variety of forms including a residual gift, a percentage of your estate or a specific amount or assets such as shares, property or works of art. We recommend you speak to a solicitor about your intentions regarding making a bequest, or contact us for more information.
